Play spaces for toddlers in NRW: all Baby Bee locations
In short: Baby Bee has seven locations in NRW: Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Essen, Bochum, Bonn, Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district and Mülheim an der Ruhr. All our play spaces for toddlers follow the same concept, with limited entry and room for free play. Still, each one is set up differently.
One concept. Seven places. And yet no two are alike.
Maybe you know Baby Bee from Düsseldorf.
Maybe Meerbusch is your regular play space. Maybe you first came to us in Essen or Bochum. Maybe you know us from Bonn, Lohmar or the brand-new Baby Bee in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
What many families only realise at some point:
There isn't just one Baby Bee.
And if you know and like one of our play spaces, it's really worth visiting another one at some point.
Because our aim is pretty simple:
You should walk through the door and know straight away: I'm at Baby Bee.
And still there should be something new to discover.
What makes a Baby Bee a Baby Bee
Baby Bee isn't just a room full of toys.
From the start, we wanted to create a different kind of family place.
A place that's high quality, thoughtfully designed and doesn't try to outdo itself with ever more stimuli for children.
Most parents probably know the classic indoor play hall principle: shoes off, child disappears somewhere between the climbing frame and the ball pit, and at some point you wonder whether this is actually leisure time or an unpaid shift at a high-ropes course.
Baby Bee is pretty much the opposite.
With us, parents get to be right in the middle of the play space.
You can accompany your child, watch, chat, have a coffee and don't have to spend the next two hours crawling after your child through tubes.
At least that's the plan.
That a two-year-old sometimes still decides mum absolutely has to sit exactly where he's playing right now is beyond our control.
Children are children, after all.
Calm doesn't mean quiet, by the way
This matters to us.
Baby Bee should feel calm.
But of course that doesn't mean seven children stacking wooden blocks in a whisper while meditative music plays in the background.
There's laughing, shouting, running, jumping and arguing, and sometimes impressively loud negotiations about who a particular toy belongs to.
That's allowed.
A calm space doesn't mean children have to be quiet.
For us, it means the space itself doesn't shout at them all the time.
No flashing machines, no constant entertainment, no endless stream of more stimuli.
Instead, we choose materials and play options deliberately so children can find their way into play on their own.
Why we limit entry
This is probably one of the biggest differences from many classic indoor play options.
We don't just keep selling tickets as long as there's a square metre of floor left somewhere.
Every Baby Bee has a set entry limit.
That's why at our places children and adults each reserve a spot.
That sometimes raises the question at first:
"Why do I need to book as an adult too? I'm not even playing."
True.
Most of the time, at least.
But your spot still counts, because our limit deliberately covers everyone in the room.
That's the only way we can make sure a play space doesn't get so full that exactly what Baby Bee stands for gets lost.
Enough space to play, enough room to move and enough air for adults not to get stuck with their cappuccino between twelve prams and 47 people.
That's why we always recommend booking your visit in advance.
Limited entry isn't a marketing term for us. It's part of the concept.
Sustainable toys instead of plastic overload
We try to keep a clear line with our equipment too.
We go for high-quality, durable and, where possible, sustainable toys, and for materials that children can use in more than one set way.
Wood, open-ended play materials, movement elements, role play and things where children have to decide for themselves what they become.
And a Baby Bee doesn't stay exactly the same forever either.
We discover new makers, test new materials, swap toys or rotate individual items.
And honestly, we get pretty excited ourselves when we find something and immediately think:
That has to go into a Baby Bee.
This mix is what matters to us: recognisable, without every location becoming a copy of the other.
Same heart. Different places: every Baby Bee is different
Because although the basic feeling should be the same everywhere, every Baby Bee is different.
The spaces have different sizes, floor plans and stories. That also creates different play areas and focuses.
Some things you'll recognise straight away.
Others you'll only find at one particular location.
And that's exactly why I love it when families start visiting several Baby Bees.
For a child, another Baby Bee isn't just "the same thing again".
It's a familiar framework in a new setting.
The mindset stays. The experience changes.
Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Essen & Bochum
Our four founder locations in Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Essen and Bochum currently belong together.
That's where Baby Bee grew.
Düsseldorf was the start in 2020, then Bochum, Essen and Meerbusch followed, and each of these spaces has developed its own character over time.
If you have a Baby Bee 10-visit card for these locations, you can currently use it across all four play spaces.
Our matching online gift cards can also be redeemed in Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Essen and Bochum.
That's perfect if you already know Baby Bee and fancy trying out a different space.
Maybe at some point you'll even have more than one favourite Baby Bee.
We'd understand.
Bonn & Lohmar / Rhein-Sieg district
Our partner locations in Bonn and Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district currently belong together too.
The same principle applies within these two locations: tickets and the related shared offers and online gift cards can be used in Bonn and Lohmar.
Here too, you'll find the Baby Bee framework, but in spaces created especially for their location.
And that's exactly the thinking behind our partner concept:
Not putting exactly the same room down everywhere.
But bringing the Baby Bee idea to a new place.
And brand new: Baby Bee Mülheim an der Ruhr
With Mülheim an der Ruhr another Baby Bee joined not long ago.
Our second franchise partner has opened a completely new, very modern play space there, really central and with a character all of its own.
And I love this thought:
An idea that once started with a single room is now creating Baby Bees that other people with the same values are taking further.
Not as a copy.
But as part of the same family.
Why it's fine to stray a little
Within the Baby Bee family only, of course.
If you usually come to Düsseldorf, visit Meerbusch some time. If you know Essen, check out Bochum. If you're in Bonn, maybe discover Lohmar. And the same the other way round.
Because children in particular notice differences that we adults sometimes don't even have on our radar.
A different movement element, a new play material or simply a different room can suddenly spark a completely new idea for play.
And at the same time there's that familiar feeling:
Ah. We know this.
That's exactly the mix we want.
And you get a real bonus too:
If you already have a 10-visit card from another Baby Bee location and show it at a different location, you currently get 10% off day tickets or the local 10-visit card there.
In practice:
Say you have a 10-visit card from Düsseldorf, Essen, Bochum or Meerbusch and visit Bonn, Lohmar or Mülheim? Just show your card and use the discount.
And of course it works the other way round too.
This is a partnership we've deliberately set up between our locations, because we want Baby Bee to feel not like separate rooms, but like a family of places that are connected.
So:
Go ahead and use it. It's worth it.
Maybe you'll discover a second favourite Baby Bee.
And honestly: we'd have nothing against that.
Baby Bee keeps growing
When the first Baby Bee opened in Düsseldorf in 2020, it wasn't part of some big expansion strategy.
At first it was just an idea.
The idea that there had to be something else between home, café and classic indoor playground.
A place where small children can really play and adults are happy to stay at the same time.
Today there are several Baby Bees in NRW.
We run some of them ourselves, others are run by our partners.
And more locations are already being planned.
That still feels a little crazy to us.
But maybe it also shows that lots of families are looking for exactly these kinds of places.
A Baby Bee should feel familiar, never interchangeable
Maybe that's our most important aim in the end.
When you walk into a new Baby Bee, you should recognise the mindset.
The carefully chosen materials, the room for free play, the limited entry and the feeling that children are welcome here without adults disappearing from the family experience altogether.
But you should still be curious.
About the space, new ways to play, the people behind it and what this particular Baby Bee does differently.
Because we don't want to produce identical play spaces.
We want to create places that carry the same idea.
SAME HEART. DIFFERENT PLACES.
And maybe your Baby Bee will always be the one round the corner.
Maybe at some point you'll have two favourite locations.
Or you'll even turn your visits into a little Baby Bee tour of NRW.
We'd have nothing against it.

Frequently asked questions about Baby Bee locations
Where can I find Baby Bee?
In Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Essen, Bochum, Bonn, Lohmar in the Rhein-Sieg district and Mülheim an der Ruhr. More locations are being planned.
Can I use my 10-visit card at other locations?
Within the founder locations Düsseldorf, Meerbusch, Essen and Bochum, yes: 10-visit cards and online gift cards currently apply across all four. Bonn and Lohmar also belong together. At all other locations, a valid 10-visit card currently gets you 10% off day tickets or the local 10-visit card.
Do I need to book in advance?
We recommend it. Every Baby Bee has a fixed entry limit, and children and adults each reserve a spot. That way there's enough room to play.
What makes Baby Bee different from an indoor play hall?
Parents are right there in the play space, entry is limited, and instead of constant entertainment there are carefully chosen, durable play materials that let children find their own way into play.
